What is Apple pay?

Apple Pay is a digital payment system created by Apple Inc. that lets you pay for things using your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac instead of a physical card or cash.

It works like a “digital wallet” inside your Apple device. You add your debit or credit cards to the Wallet app, and then you can pay in shops, apps, or online by using Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

Where can you use it?

  • In physical stores (tap your phone or watch at contactless payment terminals)
  • In apps (like Deliveroo, Uber, etc.)
  • On websites in Safari (without typing card details)

Artfinder now offers Apple Pay as a payment option, enabling faster and more convenient transactions by using the contactless payment cards stored on your device.

How can I use Apple Pay on Artfinder?

When you pay, Apple Pay doesn’t share your actual card number. Instead, it uses a secure “token” (a random device-specific number), so your real card details stay hidden from merchants.

  1. Browse Artfinder and choose the piece you want to buy.
  2. When you’re ready to pay, proceed to the checkout page.
  3. If supported, you’ll see the Apple Pay option, tap or click it.

  1. It will then display your saved cards that are linked to your Apple device, similar to the example below:

  1. Confirm using your phone’s security (fingerprint, face unlock, or PIN), and double-click the button on your device as instructed, and the payment will be quick, easy, and complete.

Key benefits

  • Faster than using loads of cards
  • More secure (your card number isn’t exposed)
  • Simple checkout process!

On Apple devices, it’s part of the built-in wallet system via the Apple Wallet app.

Are there any restrictions on using this feature to pay?

Apple Pay works on most modern Apple devices, including iPhone (6 or later), Apple Watch (Series 1 or later), iPad (Pro, Air 2, Mini 3, and newer), and Macs with Touch ID. It is used for in-store payments via NFC, in-app purchases, and web shopping in Safari.

Compatible Phone device List:

  • iPhone: iPhone 6 and later (including 6s, SE, 7, 8, X, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 models).

Is Apple Pay avalaible for all countries?

Apple Pay is unavailable in nations under US trade sanctions, including North Korea, Syria, Sudan, and Cuba. While it covers over 100+ markets, it is largely unsupported in many African, Central Asian, and some Caribbean nations. Coverage is heavily restricted where Apple goods are prohibited or where financial infrastructure lacks contactless adoption.
