What is Google Pay?

Google Pay is a digital payment service developed by Google that lets you make purchases using your phone, smartwatch, or other supported devices instead of physical cash or cards.

It allows you to:

  • Pay in stores using contactless (NFC) payments
  • Make online purchases
  • Send and receive money (in supported regions)
  • Store payment methods like debit/credit cards, loyalty cards, and tickets in one place

In simple terms, it replaces your physical wallet with a phone-based version—so you can tap, pay, and go without needing your cards on hand.

Artfinder now offers Google Pay as a payment option, enabling faster and more convenient transactions by using the contactless payment cards stored on your device.

How can I use Google Pay on Artfinder?

Instead of sharing your actual card number when you pay, Google Pay uses something called tokenisation (a stand-in virtual number), so your real details stay protected.

  1. Browse Artfinder and choose the piece you want to buy.
  2. When you’re ready to pay, proceed to the checkout page.
  3. If supported, you’ll see the Google Pay option, tap or click it. Your saved card (from Google Pay) will appear.

  1. Confirm using your phone’s security (fingerprint, face unlock, or PIN)
  2. Once confirmed, the payment goes through instantly, and your order is completed.

Is Google Pay avalaible for all countries?

Google Pay (now largely rebranded as Google Wallet) is not available in all regions, as its operation is limited by international sanctions and local regulatory requirements. As a result, access is restricted or unavailable in countries such as Russia, Iran, North Korea, and Syria. Even in supported markets, availability may vary depending on regional regulations and partnerships.

Device compatibility also plays a key role in whether Google Wallet can be used for contactless payments. It is not supported on iPhones (with the exception of India), Android devices running versions below Android 9.0, or devices without NFC (Near Field Communication) capability.

In addition, certain devices are excluded for security reasons. This includes rooted or modified Android phones, as well as unverified or uncertified devices that do not meet Google’s security and integrity requirements.

Overall, functionality depends on both regional availability and device compliance with technical and security standards.
