I would like to request a different shipping option than the one offered on an artwork listing - what should I do?

We understand that there may be occasions when you would like to discuss the shipping options available for an artwork, or you would like to choose an alternative one to what the artist usually offers.

As Artfinder is a marketplace, all our artists are responsible for managing their own shops and fulfilling their orders. Subsequently, our artists are in charge of shipping their own artworks, choosing the carriers to deliver their pieces, and pricing the shipping cost.

The shipping information for a particular artwork will be usually shown on the artwork listing in the "Delivery" section. Here you will see the shipping price to your country and the estimated dispatch time. Please note that the dispatch time only refers to how long it will take the artist to prepare your order for shipping. This is not a delivery estimate.

By hovering over the "i" you can also see how the artwork will be packaged by the artist.

If you require further information regarding the shipment of an artwork, or if you want the artist to ship with a particular courier etc, we would encourage you to contact the artist prior to purchasing in order to clarify arrangements, and whether alternative shipping options are available.

To do so, please go to the product page of the artwork you are interested in purchasing, scroll to the bottom of the listing and you will find a "Contact me" button underneath the artist's profile. Kindly note that in order to message the artist, you will need an Artfinder account, and will need to be logged in.

From here you will be able to discuss directly with the artist the shipping option that you would prefer, and the artist will be able to recommend options as the shipper of the artwork. Once this has been discussed and a price has been agreed, the artist will advise you on how to proceed with the purchase.

Many of our artists will be able to offer alternative shipping options at an additional cost, however, there may be cases where this is not possible. It is important to note in these instances, that shipping prices and options will vary depending on the location of the artist that you have ordered from, and is dependent on the size and weight of the parcel, as well as the packaging and the destination of the shipment. 

I have already placed an order, and would like my artwork shipped with an alternative shipping method - what should I do?

If you have already placed an order, and would like to discuss how the artwork is shipped/would like to see if your order can be transported with another shipping method, we would encourage you to reach out to the artist as soon as possible, as they may ship the order in the meantime.

To contact the artist whom you have placed the order with, log in to your Artfinder account, and visit your ‘Orders’ page which can be found through the ‘Account’ icon, in the top right-hand corner. 

Underneath the relevant order, you will find the option to contact the artist, and you will be able to send them a direct message to discuss shipping options.

From here you will be able to discuss the shipping method that the artist has arranged for the artwork, and you can talk through other shipping options that you may want, such as express shipping. 
It is important to note that the artist will only be able to offer options which are the same price as the original shipping option that you've been charged for at checkout. It is not possible for any additional payments to be made once an order has been placed.

For your own safety, please ensure that no payment details are exchanged with the artist via the messaging system, and that no payments are processed outside of the Artfinder platform.

Kindly note that if you have agreed on a cheaper shipping method than the one paid for, the artist will be able to partially refund you this amount through their Seller Portal. 

Please be aware that lower shipping costs may mean that artists will need to send the artwork via a slower delivery method.

I would like to collect my artwork directly from the artist, is that possible?

We appreciate that there are occasions when customers live close by to artists, and will want to collect directly from them to avoid delays with shipping, as well as costs. If you are interested in collecting an artwork directly from an artist, we would encourage you to place an order with the artist, and then reach out to see if you can collect directly from them or whether they can hand-deliver it to you.
If the artist is happy for you to collect directly from them, or the artist is willing to hand deliver the artwork to you themselves, please be assured that this is fine. It is however important to note that we require delivery confirmation for all purchases, in order to release payments to our artists. We would therefore ask that you kindly pop us an email to customers@artfinder.com or to drop a message to the artist via the messaging system on our site, to confirm that you received the artwork and you are happy with it. The artist will then let us know that you are happily in possession of the artwork.
