Who am I buying from?
In addition to providing a marketplace that connects artists directly to customers around the world, Artfinder also offers a small, curated selection of artworks by Famous Artists. These works are sold to you by Approved Resellers and Licensed Publishers, who will ship directly to you safely and securely once you've purchased.
Throughout the process, Artfinder provides end-to-end support, from purchasing and tracking your artwork through to delivery.
We carry out checks on our Approved Resellers and Licensed Publishers before they're approved to list. Each Approved Reseller warrants the authenticity and provenance of the artworks they sell, and each Licensed Publisher warrants that they hold the right to reproduce or edit the artworks they sell — giving you the reassurance to purchase with confidence.
How can I be sure artworks by Famous Artists are genuine?
All artworks by Famous Artists on Artfinder are sold to you by our Approved Resellers and Licensed Publishers, all of whom we have vetted before they're approved to list. Each Approved Reseller warrants the authenticity and provenance of the artworks they sell, and each Licensed Publisher warrants that they hold the right to reproduce or edition the artworks they sell.
Where an Approved Reseller has stated that supporting provenance documentation exists — including a Certificate of Authenticity — this will be included with your purchase and noted on the artwork page. Where a Licensed Publisher has stated that supporting documentation exists, this will similarly be included with your purchase and noted on the artwork page.
If you have any questions about an artwork, please get in touch with us at customers@artfinder.com.
How can I be sure of the condition of an artwork by a Famous Artist?
For original artworks sold directly by the artist, the condition of the piece you choose will be clearly outlined in the description of the specific artwork listing. You will also be able to see from photos anything relevant to the condition of the artwork prior to your purchase.
For artworks by Famous Artists, how condition is handled depends on who the artwork is being sold to you by.
Where an artwork is being sold to you by an Approved Reseller, the condition of the piece will be clearly outlined on the artwork page. The Approved Reseller is required to disclose the condition of the artwork and anything that may affect it.
Where an artwork is being sold to you by a Licensed Publisher, these artworks are either estate-authorised limited editions or appropriately licensed fine art prints. Any condition comments will be included where relevant.
Can I still process a return on these orders?
Yes, free returns are still covered under our 14-day return policy. However, for artworks by Famous Artists, we will request additional information ahead of authorising a return, and there are some specific requirements to be aware of.
The artwork must be returned in the same condition in which it was received — for example, with any protective materials, certificates or other items it arrived with still in place. This isn't limited to the packaging alone: it also includes any documentation supplied with the artwork, such as a Certificate of Authenticity or provenance documentation, and the original packaging provided by the Approved Reseller or Licensed Publisher, where this was supplied. Your return won't be finalised until we've been able to confirm the condition of the artwork once it's been received by the seller.
Fine art prints produced to order by a Licensed Publisher are made specifically for you and, in line with our standard exclusions for made-to-measure and custom-made items, are not eligible for return.
